Historical prominence of the Estes Park Valley as a resort community actually began in the early 20th century when tourists began recognizing the pristine beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park as a vacation Mecca . Merchants in the area flourished providing unique goods and services to visitors. Lodging and restaurants likewise developed as important service cornerstones in the community.  Today Estes Park is nationally known as the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

What is The Estes Park Heritage Festival?

Traditional heritage, including traditional festivals are important characteristics of a community's cultural identity. It is important to pass on traditional culture to younger generations so that the history and endeavors of the town's forefathers and mothers is not forgotten. The Estes Park Heritage Festival is way to create a public awareness of the founding history of Estes Park .

The Heritage Festival represents a celebration of the important history of Estes Park in a manner in which both citizens of the Valley and visitors of all ages can enjoy and participate in the goals of the festival.

Heritage Festival activities will take place at the Fair Grounds at Stanley Park. Downtown businesses, local parks, and historic sites will support the Estes Park Heritage Festival.

Fair Grounds at Stanley Park will play host to musical performances, old time Native American story tellers, exhibitors and demonstrations. There will be plenty of parking at the Fair Grounds. There will be entertainment and dancing at entertainment tent from 6-9 pm. We are sharing the event with a Chuckwagon Cook Off and Draft Horse Show. FREE admission to all 3 events!

Key members of the organizing committee include businesses, the museums, historical properties, individuals, and the public library. The intention is to make every effort to create fun & educational opportunities for visitors while providing a venue to celebrate the history of Estes Park.
